Most of people think that cheese just has one real friend : wine. But we want to prove them that it is not true because our good friend Beer is also a very good friend of Cheese. This blend is really yummy. This is a traditional blend in Belgium or in Denmark but not in our country. Our Belgian friends like beer : they spend about 850 euros per person and consume about 100 liters per year.
Beers have lots of advantages that wines don’t have :
At La Antigua, we have understood that it is important to think about this blend beer and cheese. That is why we have decided to work jointly with a company of our region to create our own traditional beer La Antigua. It is very important for us to work with people of Castilla-and-Léon region. We are proud of our traditions and products and we have to make it known.
First, we want you to know that it is better to consume a beer which temperature is not less than 5 degrees. Its permits to enjoy better the taste of the beer and also when it is too cold we drink faster.
The White Beer :
Its sweet flavor of wheat and its taste citrus or even spicy is perfect with soft cheese with matured rind. So, you can enjoy your sparkling white beer with a good goat cheese.
The Lager Beer :
Its cereals and fresh bread flavor blends perfectly with our semi-maturated sheep cheese. We can also try it with Abbaye cheeses. The lager beer will reduce the bitterness of the cheese.
The Dark or Amber Beer :
This beer is particularly permeated with hops during its elaboration. This climbing plant is not only good to preserve the beer but also add a very special taste. This very strong flavor permits to blend this beer with hard cheeses like Cheddar, Gouda, Emmental or a young Parmesan.
Its brown sugar flavor is also perfect with our semi-maturated sheep cheese. This beer will wrap its texture and its flavors : a very charming contrast.
The Red Beer :
You will enjoy its caramelized flavor with your blend beer and cheese. You can try with soft cheese with washed rind or with aged pressed cheese. Too cold, this beer is too bitter. But if it is fresh, it is the perfect balance softness/bitterness.
The Black Beer :
This beer with a dark color is made for bitterness lovers. Its burnt bread flavor appears during its elaboration thanks to the malt roasting. You can consume this beer with hard cheeses but also with blue soft cheese. The Roqueforti penicilium of the blue cheese is the good choice to blend with this black beer.
What can you add to make a success of your degustation ?
We advice you to blend it with crackers or with rye bread. You can also try it with fresh fruits : apples, pears, grapes or fresh figs…
Dry fruits are perfect with the blend beer and cheese. And if you wanna change the rules, we should try to eat pâté with your sheep cheese and with your beer.

You will enjoy better cheese if you eat it in small quantities.
